Mourning Dove with Egg

Photograph by Matt Blaze

May 22, 1999. Palo Alto, California. The new birds were industrious enough to improve their nest by adding a few layers of twigs around its perimeter. One egg, layed a few minutes before this photo was taken, is just visible. A second egg appeared three days later.

Image taken on 35mm Kodak E100S film under natural light and fill flash with a Nikkor AF-D 200mm F/4 EDIF Micro lens attached to a Nikon F4s camera body mounted on an Arca-Swiss B1 ball head atop Bogen 3221 tripod legs. Digitized with a Nikon LS-2000 film scanner and converted to JPEG with Adobe Photoshop 5.0.
