Mourning Dove and Squab

May 15, 1999. Palo Alto, California. The parent dove stayed with the squab for its first night on the ledge. The following afternoon, the squab took its first successful flight and did not return. Image taken on 35mm Kodak E100SW film under natural light and TTL fill flash with a Nikkor AF-D 200mm F/4 EDIF Micro lens attached to a handheld Nikon F4s camera body.
