Squab Alone in Nest

Photograph by Matt Blaze

May 14, 1999. Palo Alto, California. A few weeks after the eggs first appeard, one squab hatched, shown here about three days later. It was left alone in the nest for as long as three hours at a time.

Image taken on 35mm Kodak E100S film in natural light with fill flash with a Nikkor AF-D 200mm F/4 EDIF Micro lens attached to a Nikon F4s camera body mounted on an Arca-Swiss B1 ball head atop Bogen 3221 tripod legs. Digitized with a Nikon LS-2000 film scanner and converted to JPEG with Adobe Photoshop 5.0.
