LAB Spool Top Pin
Spool Pin (LAB).
Spool pins (named for their resemblance to an empty spool
of thread) tend to falsely set in the middle
when picked. They can be picked manually, but
it requires special care with torque when pushing the
pin beyond the lip of the spool after it has false set.
Such pins do not present any special problems
for impact or vibration picks. This is a .273 inch
top pin made by LAB, an aftermarket pin vendor.
Image taken with a Nikon D-100 digital camera with the
85mm f/2.8 macro PC shift/tilt lens, attached to a PB-6
bellows and tripod mount. Note that this image is not
color-corrected.
